Readers may remember news stories that appeared after Obama’s election and after his re-election, of the surge in the sales of guns and ammunition “before Obama takes them away”.
We who are on the side of Obama were bemused, knowing quite well that Obama was not intending any such thing. Nothing that Obama said during his campaigns or the Democratic Party Platform or anybody’s record while in office could be taken to mean such a thing.
The information we have about the intentions of Trump and his entourage is certainly cause for alarm, but we should be careful not to descend into the same type of hysteria.
